HISTORY

Leonid Schemelov City Art Gallery was established by Decision № 115 of the Minsk City Executive Committee on January 23, 2003 as a cultural institution of museum type. The basis of the gallery's exposition is a collection of works by the People's Artist of Belarus Leonid Schemelov, which he donated to the capital of Belarus. A collection of 60 original canvases given to Minsk by the artist is the foundation of the gallery, the creation of which is a worthy expression of gratitude to the artist, the man, the citizen.

Leonid Schemelov City Art Gallery was opened for visitors on May 20, 2003 in the Serebryanka district of the capital city. However, in 2015 a new exposition of the gallery was opened in the historical center of Minsk - in the building, which is a monument of architecture of the XIX century and is located at 10, Revolutsionnaya Street.
